Muskets

Tulle, Fusil de Chase

The Tulle was the primary small arm used by Colonial French Marines.  It was a flintlock musket with a smooth bore. It fired a .62 caliber musket ball which was a smaller ball than the army used.  Tulles originally used the plug bayonet but later switched to the socket.

Charleville

This flintlock was standard issue for the French Army and saw some use with the French Marines.  it fired a .69 Cal musket ball and featured a socket bayonet.

Ste Etienne

This Musket was similar to the Charleville but was made by the St Etienne.  If fired a .69 cal musket ball and featured a socket bayonet

Cutlery

Sword

Enlisted Marines were issued swords when they joined.  It was used often as a recruiting tool since Marines were allowed to keep and carry their swords even after they left the service.  Marines found their swords of little uses in the thick foliage of the new worlds and often opted to carry a tomahawk instead.

Canons

2 Pound Brass Canon

The Marines stationed in Detroit had 3 two pound cannons.  These cannons were capable of policing the Detroit river and primarily used in the enforcement of fur trade regulations. They were highly mobile and capable of being pulled by carriage or taken apart and placed in a wagon.  They could fire a 2 pound cannon ball or loaded with shot.  Marine carriages were painted red.
